Checked out Crested Butte today. The town historic district is worth a visit. So many old authentic and rustic restaurants and bars to visit, along with so many shops. The town is also known for its wild flowers and the didn't disappoint. We had a great time looking around.
First mountain climb for me (well, we took the ski lift up). The scramble to the top is not for folk with medical conditions or limitations (or who are feint of heart)--it's all fours here and there as you climb over boulders to reach the summit. Panoramic and scenic views in 360 degrees--you get what looks like a painted view of the town of Crested Butte. Bring a jacket and watch the weather--thunderstorms should deter you from the top. The ski resort at the bottom where we took the lift is quite nice, and the views from the lift were dreamy. Overall, it's a pleasant visit worth the hour or two it takes you to park, take the lift, and scramble the last 1,000 feet or so to the top.
A very striking peak surrounded by majestic mountains full of Aspens and Pine! The view even from near the top is practically 360 degrees surrounded by valley to peaks. Crested Butte is covered in trails with very easy access to the summit both during winter and summer. Its worth a visit and the climb!
Breathe taking! Love this place snow or not!
Great place, visited in August, thousands of flowers. Incredible views, nice place to visit for hiking, biking, and just enjoying outdoors. I would recommend Crested Butte for either solo trip to recharge your batteries or a fun getaway with your family.
