Parked at the State wildlife are on the west side. Ran into an old road and followed that up to a scree field, then cut across to the north ridge, a gentler slope up. Followed that to the top! I'd stay on that side (the north ridge) and in the trees as much as possible - less rock hopping.
The beauty of this mountain is mesmerizing. Here's views from Hwy 50 and Monarch Mountain.
