Mt Yale is a great mountain. About 2.75 miles through forest next to streams before you pop above the tree line & follow the trail through boulder fields. The final 0.25 miles to the summit is a bit more of a rock hopping scramble but worth it! Only snowed a tiny bit on me
Headed up from the Colorado Trail. We've made it, but it was quite difficult at times, because in the mid third the trail just disappears and if you have little knowledge about how to get up those ridges, I would not recommend taking that route.
This was my 15th 14er if i could complete the summit yesterday 11/27. It was too windy above the treeline, and I lost the trail as well. Turned back from the last 2 miles, visibility was bad too, there was no else too attempting so I chickened out. It was incredible though , went to hertenstein Lake to make up for it. Will come back!
We used the Danny Creek trailhead to go up Mt Yale. Get there no later than 7am or the lot will be full. We finished at 2:30pm and was up top for about an hour. There is dispersed camping along the road. There is also a bathroom (no water) at the trailhead. Great hike! One of my favorites. Not easy and worth it! The last .5 miles was all boulders which was expected.
All trials is tripping, I logged around 9.66 miles with about 4,200 gain. Great conditions. I suggest starting super early as the trail turns into a zoo of people pretty quick. The first two miles is pretty chill through the forest and then last 2 and change is steep switchbacks.
